Born in 1968 in Torreón, Coahuila, and the fourth of nine siblings, Don Manolo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Welding and Industrial Design from the University of Torreón, Coahuilla. Then, at 23 years old, he accompanied his family in their move to Tequila, Jalisco in 1991, just at the cusp of the explosive growth in the tequila category that lay ahead over the ensuing thirty-plus years.
Don Manolo’s first job in Jalisco applying his degree was as a metalsmith at the Tequileña distillery, working on the company’s assorted tequila stills of various types and materials. After working five years at Tequileña, Don Manolo decided to try his hand at entrepreneurism, and in 1996 founded his own company, INOX, building tequila stills for other companies to feed the industry’s tireless thirst for increased production demand.
Through eventually building more than thirty tequila stills for producers across Jalisco, Don Manolo developed a keen understanding of the operational costs, style differences, and production nuances of a broad range of tequila distillers, from small and quaint to larger with higher output, yet always consistent with age-old production methods.
It was then, in 2014, that Don Manolo became determined to apply his accumulated tequila distillation knowledge toward building his own dream distillery, and began constructing Hacienda Casa Macías, S.A. de C.V. By 2018, his distillery was up and running, primarily making brands for Mexico City’s growing demand for premium tequila.
Always with a gracious toast of “Tequila for Everyone!,” Tequila Pa’ Todos is made using only completely mature agave grown in our local tequila Denomination of Origin. ¡Salud!
